What is Catholic Social Teaching? What is its role in modern society? How does it apply to our lives outside of church – in our business, government, civic, policy-making arenas and more? You are invited to attend this informative presentation on Monday, May 6 at 7:30 PM here at St. Joseph’s in Mary’s Chapel (lower church) by parishioner Fred Fakharzadeh. Fred is President of the US branch of CAPP, a lay-led international organization based at the Vatican and founded by Saint John Paul II to get the word out about Catholic Social Teaching. Take the opportunity to learn about this great gift that remains all too unknown.


VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Harrison House in Paramus is a safe and secure home for people living with HIV/AIDS. Our parish will begin donating meals once again to Harrison House beginning in March, on the first Monday of each month. If you like to cook and would be willing to donate a meal, please reach out to Jane Kiernan at [email protected] to be put on the schedule. Not a cook? We will gratefully accept monetary donations or supermarket gift cards to help offset costs.

Volunteers are needed to help serve lunch at Eva’s Village, located at 393 Main Street, in Paterson, NJ on Tuesday, May 21 and June 25. Approximate time commitment is 11am – 1:30pm. For more information, or if you are able to help, please call Tom Kelly at 201-657-4352.

SJ FAITH GROUP – TUESDAYS

Our Faith Sharing Group meets every Tuesday at 7pm in the Jackson Room (lower church). We pray the Breviary, read and discuss the formational materials, and share our faith. All are welcome to join us. If you want to grow in your faith and improve your prayer life, please join our faith sharing group which meets every Tuesday from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM,  led by our own Father John.


SJ SHAWL MINISTRY – MAY 8

The Shawl Ministry will meet from 11am to 1pm in the Parish Life Center on Grove St. We welcome new members who can crochet and knit to our meetings. Just bring your current project with you, and enjoy our prayerful and happy group. We present shawls to those who are experiencing celebrations as well as challenging occasions. Please note that we will take a hiatus for the summer.


BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP – APR. 19

When grieving the loss of a loved one, individuals may feel overwhelmed and lonely. Adapting to life after the death of a loved one often takes more time than we expect. Saint Joseph Parish offers a Bereavement Support Group led by parishioner John Fuhrman for our brothers and sisters who have lost a loved one through death. (Anyone interested, including parishioners from other churches, is welcome.) The purpose of the group is to provide opportunities for mutual healing in a confidential, educational, and spiritual environment. The group will meet for 8 weeks on Fridays (7pm-9pm) from April 19 – June 7 in the Retreat House (115 Grand St, Oradell, NJ, behind the Church).If you would like to participate, or if you need more information, please contact Gerry at 201-261-0148.

Junior Leadership Academy:

BC LEAD ON Program:
The Bergen Catholic LEAD ON Program is a three-week summer enrichment program for 7th and 8th-grade students. It offers diverse subjects like Sports Analytics, Broadcast Media & Journalism, Leadership, Engineering Principles, Legal Business Environment, and Scientific Investigations. 2025 MASS BOOK OPENED

The 2025 Mass book is open.  Mass Intention requests will be taken at the Rectory from 9:30 am to 1:30 p.m.  The Mass Intention Form and instructions will be available in the Church and at the Rectory.

The Legion of Mary would like to invite you to pray the Rosary with us. Bring your special prayer request! We can teach you how to pray this beautiful prayer; no experience necessary, just a desire to go to Jesus through Mary. We meet once a week on Mondays immediately following the 8:30 a.m. Mass. SJ SPIR. ADOPTION – JAN. thru OCT.

We invite you to take a spiritual adoption prayer card bearing the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  

Please pray this short prayer daily for 9 months for one individual child at risk of being aborted.   

The Respect Life Committee will update you on the growth and development of the baby you spiritually adopted – so check back for updates over the coming 9 months!  In October, we can celebrate the baby’s birth (we hope and pray!) with a visit to Saint Joseph’s by a pregnancy resource center. Through this program we hope to build a culture of life.
