October 2024 Message from the Advancement Team:

Saint Joseph Parish is a vibrant community in which Faith Formation is key to our mission. Over the last year
or more, we have had the opportunity to host / offer a variety of events that strengthen this commitment and
deepen our faith journey as a Parish. These are several highlights:

* Pilgrimage to Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC – In partnership with Saint Peter’s Parish in River Edge, SJC hosted a bus trip to the Basilica which included an opportunity to tour the site, prayer, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Mass presided by Cardinal Joseph Tobin.

* Parish Mission – Led by Father Glenn Sudano, one of the eight founding members of the Franciscan Friars of
Renewal, the 3-night mission focused on the apostolic mission to save the materially poor through
spiritual direction and counseling. Father Glenn resides at Holy Family Farm, a faith-based initiative of
Catholic laity. The event included exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

* Host the Relic of Saint Jude – It was a rare opportunity for our Parish to have the Relic of the Arm of Saint Jude (the Apostle of the Impossible) present in our Church, one of the few venues in Bergen County. Over 2700 faithful people passed through our Church doors to venerate the relic. A closing Mass was celebrated with around 500 in attendance. This was truly a special day for SJC.

* Array of Hope – In collaboration with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, SJC hosted a three-night
encounter with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. The night’s events included talks, Exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, music provided by AOH Music and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

* Commissioning of a New Ministry at SJC – Society of Saint Lydia – A Chapter of this growing ministry was
commissioned at SJC. Its mission is to acknowledge, honor, and empower Catholic women, by the example of Saint Lydia, to utilize their unique gifts for the building up of the Church.

These are only a few of the very special things happening at Saint Joseph Parish. SJC is rich with Faith
Formation opportunities including an active Youth Group, Annual processions for Corpus Christi and Our
Lady of Fatima, Bible Study, Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (formerly RCIA), Legion of Mary and
much, much more!
