We invite you to take a spiritual adoption prayer card bearing the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Please pray this short prayer daily for 9 months for one individual child at risk of being aborted.
The Respect Life Committee will update you on the growth and development of the baby you spiritually adopted – so check back for updates over the coming 9 months! In October, we can celebrate the baby’s birth (we hope and pray!) with a visit to Saint Joseph’s by a pregnancy resource center. Through this program we hope to build a culture of life.
JANUARY – CONCEPTION
Here I am! At the moment of conception, genetic instructions (DNA) from my mom and my dad combined to form a unique individual – ME! The DNA I have will determine my eye color, my hair color, my height, and my natural abilities (such as math, art, and sports). I am going to grow fast! Look out, world!

FEBRUARY – 1 MONTH
I am now 10,000 times larger than I was a month ago (at conception), about the size of a grain of rice! My heart is formed and beating (at 22 days) and it is pumping blood through my blood vessels! My blood type may even be different from my mother’s. My placenta is forming, and it will nourish me until I am born. Pray for me as I continue to grow.
“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works!” – Psalm 139:13-14
MARCH – 2 MONTHS
I am about the size of a black bean and weigh about 1/3 of an ounce. My organs (heart, brain, stomach, liver, kidneys, lungs) have formed and my brain waves can be recorded. I have started to move around! I can even swallow. Thank you for praying for mommy and me.

APRIL – 3 MONTHS
Even though I’m only 3 inches long and weigh 1 ounce, my arms, hands, fingers, and feet are fully formed. I even have fingernails and toenails. I can suck my thumb and kick. I can feel sensations like pain. I can smile and frown. Thank you for praying for me so that I can grow up.

MAY – 4 MONTHS
Mommy can feel me kick! I can grab my feet and turn somersaults. I have eyelashes and my own unique fingerprints. I am 6-7 inches long and weigh in at 4-5 ounces.
Keep praying for Mommy and me! Whatever she drinks and eats nourishes me.
